Me and my bro where talking bout this yesterday. What is a gamer? the people who have never heard of "Final Fantasy" but could do you in madden 85 to 0 . Is a Gamer someone who owns every rpg and system but no sports games. Is a gamer those guys in school yelling "hey you played that vice city man it's the shit" or the guy who says " Vice city is good but not the best its very repepitive and gets boring. Is a gamer that guy who would never pay 15 bucksto paly FFX1.

All of the above and more. It's a question with a thousand answers. I have a friend who can beat anybody in Halo on XBOX but he didn't even know what RE was let alone that there were sequels. Plus, anybody up to take a whoopin' in Madden?;)

I would challenge someone on Madden 2003, but can't get my adapter to work :( .

Madden 2003 servers are closed.

A gamer is one who plays games and enjoys them. A "hardcore" gamer is a complete loser, and a "casual" gamer plays big hits and knows nothing about games at all.

i guess im in between casual and hardcore...

That would be a plain, old, gamer.

"Hardcore" and "casual" are complete opposites. "Casual" gamers often play more sports, racing, and fighting games, while "hardcore" are the type that don't play sports video games, or sports in real life. They mainly like RPG's and anime-type games, because of their love for loserish anime.

I'm the BADASS FUCKEN GAMER because I play Contra III: Alien Wars for SNES on HARD mode. That's 3 lives and 0 continues, right there.

Only REAL MEN PLAY CONTRA III on HARD.

Perfect example of the "hardcore" gamer. Notice the anime avatar, and the inability to comprehend that games came out after 1998, besides RPG's and anime-inspired games.

Oh, shit, right, I forgot that I had an anime avatar and that it reflects everything about me.

Shut up, fag. I'm glad you're so shallow.

Oh, and I suppose saying you are a real man for playing Contra on hard tells me nothing?

I hate people who label themselves gamers. "Hardcore" or otherwise. It's just not possible.

Brun: I would not consider fighting games casual. I know a guy who has memorized every FRAME OF ANIMATION for almost every move for every character in Guilty Gear XX so that he knows exactly when to counter or attack. Fucker has it down to an art.

Brunbb

It depends. If you get into games like Guilty Gear, than yes. But if it's Mortal Kombat, or one of the other bigger series, than casual gamers play them.

Casual Gamers play whatver it is that is popular at the time, much like a good Charlotte punk rocker.

Real men play Contra on HARD. I hate RPGs, WTF, why label me an RPG gamer?

I play games casually, but I always strive to beat them at the hardest mode possible, without cheats or shit like that. Most of the games I play are action-oriented or stealth.

I've only succeeded in a few.

So I'm thinking that if you play games on the hardest mode possible without cheats and beat it, yeah... you're a fucken MAN.

This is quite seriously the most self-deprecating and embarassing argument ever.

Good job.

Ha, silly n00b. Everyone knows it's 1998 this year. How can games come out after the present year and be available to people? It's impossible. You're winning no votes here.

Well I Play CS and go to CPL (Cyberathlete Professional League) Where big time players play and compete for like 25,000-100,000 dollars and get sponsorship from who ever

If you are so good, you should know GamesNET sucks now and the cool kids use GameSurge.

Anyway, you play games, you are a gamer.

Not to be confused with the basketball use of "gamer", which is the same as "playa", when it comes to basketball and such.

Yea GameSnet is no more, its Gamesurge

My Channel is #SystemElite

Brunbb

GamesNET is back, run by CoolHandLuke. It sucks.

Idlers don't make a channel. It just means people join your channel and don't do anything. It's so stupid.

Gamer is not a concept, is just an attitude, a lifestyle.

A gamer is a guy who like to game "ALL" games, Action, Survival Horror, Sports, RPG, etc.

A guy who likes just one kind or even just one game is a fanboy.

I like some genres of games, not all - I like most sports games apart from American Football games, largely because to me American Football is about as exciting as watching paint dry in slow motion.

I like to play games, but I don't like to brag. I'm good at some, but I admit to going to gameFAQ when I'm stuck...

I guess that makes me a gamer. I remember doing that, but I had a second player helping out; I couldn't do it alone. I guess that makes me KINDA SORTA A BADASS FUCKEN GAMER?

Its obvious that many people have thier own definition, I'd consider a gamer anyone who plays games (doesnt matter what kind) the term Hardcore and casual would be related to the amount of hours put towards video games. The casual gamer often falls behind in the gaming world due to lack of time or slight interest, whereas the Hardcore gamer is often above and beyond in the gaming world due to devoting MUCH time towards video games (and this is why some people refer to them as "losers" because they have no other priorities).

I wouldn't judge anyone by what they do and how often they do it, its thier life and doesnt conscern me. Some people just prefer gaming over other recreations, and some prefer other recreations over gaming, both are gamers, Now the person who does not play games at all is not a gamer :) Easy enough.
